Why did we arise?

The first of it's kind...

Every year, numerous students graduate from aviation training institutions in Uganda—aircraft maintenance technicians, pilots, ground operations staff, and flight dispatchers—filled with ambition. However, they soon confront a harsh reality: practical internship and job opportunities are scarce.

While many Aviation Training Organizations (ATOs) in Uganda offer solid theoretical education, they often lack adequate post-training support. Graduates find themselves navigating the job market without sufficient guidance, struggling to gain practical experience or secure valuable mentorship. For flight dispatchers, the search for airlines willing to accept them as trainees can drag on for years.

Wings Of Opportunity seeks to bridge the gap, by encouraging and advocating for coordinated action amongst the government, UCAA, airlines, and training institutions.

Wings of Opportunity is Uganda’s first structured aviation mentorship platform, connecting early-career professionals with experienced industry leaders. We build bridges between learning and doing, dreaming and flying.

What is Wings of Opportunity?

Wings of Opportunity is a structured mentorship initiative designed to bridge the gap between aviation training and career success in Uganda. We connect emerging aviation professionals with experienced industry mentors for guidance, networking, and skill development.

Who is eligible to join the mentorship program?

Our program is open to students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals in the Ugandan aviation sector—including pilots, engineers, flight dispatchers, and other aviation-related disciplines.

How does the Group Mentorship Program work?

We host monthly virtual mentorship sessions led by seasoned aviation professionals. These include expert-led presentations, Q&A sessions, resource sharing, and networking opportunities within a supportive community.

Is there a cost to join the mentorship program?

No. Wings of Opportunity offers its mentorship program free of charge to ensure accessibility for all aspiring aviation professionals, regardless of financial background.

Who are the mentors in the program?

Our mentors are active aviation professionals with experience in various sectors such as piloting, aircraft maintenance, air traffic control, flight operations, and aviation management.

What topics are covered in the mentorship sessions?

Sessions cover a wide range of topics including career pathways, CV and interview preparation, aviation licensing, industry trends, networking strategies, professional ethics, and personal development.

Can I become a mentor or volunteer with Wings of Opportunity?
